Fort Pulaski Maternity Session in Savannah, Georgia

Fort Pulaski National Monument, located just outside of Savannah, Georgia, is a breathtaking location for maternity photos, especially between 27 to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The historic fort, set against the backdrop of beautiful coastal marshes and ancient live oaks, offers a unique blend of natural beauty, dramatic architecture, and historical charm, making it an ideal choice for capturing the glowing anticipation of motherhood.

Why Fort Pulaski is Perfect for Maternity Photos

  1. Historic Charm and Iconic Architecture: Fort Pulaski is a magnificent example of 19th-century military architecture, with its towering brick walls, arched doorways, and expansive drawbridges. The striking contrast between the imposing fort and the delicate beauty of pregnancy creates powerful imagery. The fort’s intricate stonework and gun emplacements add depth and character to your photos, giving them a timeless, almost cinematic feel. These architectural elements can create stunning compositions, whether you’re framed by a historic archway or standing near one of the fort’s scenic overlooks.

  2. Natural Beauty: Beyond the fort’s architecture, Fort Pulaski’s surroundings are equally photogenic. The park is home to lush marshlands, tidal creeks, and expansive grassy fields. The natural light here, especially during the golden hours of early morning or late afternoon, is soft and flattering, ideal for highlighting the warmth and glow of pregnancy. The towering trees, Spanish moss hanging from their limbs, and vibrant wildlife provide a serene, picturesque setting that contrasts beautifully with the structured, man-made elements of the fort.

  3. Variety of Settings: Fort Pulaski offers a range of settings within the park, so you can create diverse looks for your maternity shoot. Whether you want to feature the grandeur of the fort itself, the tranquility of the surrounding salt marshes, or a more intimate setting among the live oaks, you’ll have multiple options to explore. You could start with photos in front of the fort’s impressive exterior, move to the ramparts for elevated views, and then finish with softer, nature-filled shots down by the water’s edge.

  4. Peaceful and Spacious Atmosphere: The fort’s expansive grounds provide ample space to move around and find secluded spots for a more private, intimate shoot. Fort Pulaski is also not usually as crowded as some other tourist sites, so you won’t have to worry about large crowds interfering with your shoot. The peaceful, relaxed environment allows you to focus on the experience and capture authentic, natural moments without the distractions that can come with more tourist-heavy locations.

  5. Perfect Timing for 27–34 Weeks: The window between 27 to 34 weeks is ideal for maternity photos, as you’re likely to have a beautiful, noticeable baby bump without being too far into the later stages of pregnancy. At this stage, you may still feel more energetic and comfortable, allowing you to move freely and comfortably during your shoot. The slightly cooler weather in the spring or fall months, when Fort Pulaski is most pleasant, can also make it easier to feel at ease during your session.

Planning Your Maternity Photo Shoot at Fort Pulaski

  • Best Times for Photos: As with most outdoor shoots, the best times for maternity photos are during the golden hours—early morning or late afternoon—when the sun is low and casts a warm, flattering light. The park is open year-round, but during these times, you can also avoid the midday heat or strong sun. Be sure to check the park hours to make sure you have enough time for a leisurely shoot.

  • Wardrobe Considerations: For a setting as dramatic and timeless as Fort Pulaski, consider wearing outfits that complement the surroundings. Soft, flowy dresses in neutral tones like ivory, soft pinks, or pastels work well with the natural landscape. If you prefer something a little more formal, a flowing gown or an elegant maternity dress can create a striking contrast against the fort’s rugged textures. Accessories like a flower crown, delicate jewelry, or a shawl can add an extra layer of femininity and charm.

  • What to Bring: Besides the usual essentials (like water and snacks), consider bringing along a few props or personal touches that help tell your story, such as a pair of tiny shoes, a sonogram image, or a special item from your pregnancy journey. If you plan to include your partner or other family members, coordinating outfits or incorporating family keepsakes into the shoot can add a deeper emotional connection to the photos.

  • Permits and Fees: Fort Pulaski is a National Monument, so there may be a fee for entrance or photography. If you plan to hire a professional photographer, be sure to check whether a photography permit is required. This will ensure that your session goes smoothly and that you’re following the park’s rules. It’s a good idea to check these details ahead of time to avoid any last-minute surprises.

Conclusion

Fort Pulaski National Monument provides an extraordinary setting for maternity photos, blending history, natural beauty, and tranquil atmosphere in a way that few places can. Between 27 to 34 weeks of pregnancy, you’re at the perfect stage to celebrate the beauty of your journey, and Fort Pulaski offers the ideal backdrop for this special time. The combination of historic fortifications, lush landscapes, and serene marsh views allows you to capture stunning, memorable images that will forever reflect the excitement and anticipation of welcoming a new life. Whether you prefer dramatic, architectural shots or soft, nature-infused imagery, Fort Pulaski is sure to provide a one-of-a-kind maternity photo shoot experience.

Maternity at Fort McAllister in Richmond Hill, Georgia

Capturing Maternity Magic at Fort McAllister

Fort McAllister, located in Richmond Hill, Georgia, is an excellent choice for maternity photos, particularly between 27 to 34 weeks of pregnancy. This historic state park, known for its picturesque scenery and rich Civil War history, offers a blend of natural beauty and rustic charm that makes it a unique and stunning backdrop for capturing such a special moment.

Why Fort McAllister is Ideal for Maternity Photos

  1. Scenic Beauty: The park is surrounded by scenic views of tidal salt marshes, oak trees draped in Spanish moss, and lush greenery. These natural elements create a peaceful, serene atmosphere that adds a timeless quality to maternity photos. The soft, golden light that filters through the trees during the golden hour can enhance the warmth and tenderness of the photographs.

  2. Diverse Locations: Fort McAllister offers a variety of landscapes to suit different photography styles. You can capture intimate moments near the historical fortifications, or take advantage of the surrounding marshland and wooded trails. The park’s blend of open fields, rustic structures, and dense nature gives you flexibility to choose the setting that best represents your style and vision.

  3. Rustic Charm: The fort's old brick ruins and historic buildings provide a perfect juxtaposition to the soft, glowing energy of pregnancy. These structures give the photos a vintage feel, adding character and depth to the images. If you love the idea of combining history with the beauty of motherhood, Fort McAllister delivers an ideal setting.

  4. Privacy: Since the park is relatively quiet and not as crowded as some other tourist spots, it can offer a more intimate, private environment for maternity photo shoots. This allows you to feel relaxed and at ease, helping you to capture authentic, candid moments. Having a serene setting ensures you're not rushed or distracted by large crowds, allowing you to focus solely on the experience.

  5. Timely Access to Beautiful Lighting: The timing of 27 to 34 weeks is perfect for maternity photos. During this window, you’re typically showing a beautiful baby bump, but you might not be as physically uncomfortable as you might be later in pregnancy. The golden hours (early morning or late afternoon) provide the best light at Fort McAllister, offering soft, flattering tones that are ideal for maternity photography.

Planning the Shoot at Fort McAllister

  • Best Time for Photos: The best times for a shoot are early morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky. This helps avoid harsh midday light, and the golden hour light brings out the warmth and glow in your photos. The park is also less crowded at these times, giving you more space and time to work with the photographer.

  • Wardrobe Tips: Depending on the season, consider light, flowing fabrics that will blend well with the natural surroundings. Soft pastel colors, whites, and earth tones complement the landscape beautifully. A more formal dress or boho-style gown can give your photos an elegant or whimsical feel, while casual outfits can keep the shoot comfortable and relaxed.

  • Permits: If you're planning to take professional photos, make sure to check with the park about any necessary photography permits or rules about where you can shoot. It’s always good to be prepared and respectful of the location’s guidelines.

  • Bring a Support Person: Maternity shoots often involve waiting for the right lighting or angle, so having a partner, friend, or family member accompany you can help you stay relaxed and comfortable throughout the process. They can also help with props, adjusting your outfit, or simply making you feel at ease.

Conclusion

Choosing Fort McAllister for maternity photos between 27 to 34 weeks offers the perfect balance of history, natural beauty, and peaceful privacy. Whether you're looking for classic, rustic, or nature-inspired photos, the park provides a stunning and versatile setting. The combination of beautiful landscapes, historic elements, and serene surroundings will help capture the magic and anticipation of your pregnancy journey.

If you follow me closely, you already know that I become extremely obsessed with my newborn clients and their families. I consider myself extremely lucky when I am able to watch those families grow.

This family is one of those families. I met them when their twins were born and fresh out of the NICU almost a year ago. Those sweet girls came in with a story, being born at 25 weeks to a wonderful set of parents, whom were high school sweethearts.

They had such a journey trying to conceive their sweet girls, then such a journey with an early labor and NICU experience, but they went through the journey with so much grace and love.

No words can describe how excited I was when mom reached out to tell me that they were expecting again! I was over the moon!

Meet Baby Elyse.

I was so excited this sweet couple was so easy going and I was lucky enough that this couple was okay with adventuring with me. Sometimes, I get in my head that I need to capture something new and exciting. I found an amazing new location that I plan to use more, but what is most exciting about this session is that I put my camera away. However, I turned around and the sky was the most beautiful display of perfection. We captured it. Can you tell which one it is?

Oh my heavens! This sweet baby girl and her family, including her fur siblings came in. I was so excited to meet this sweet girl and her family. Can you believe her parents moved to Greenville, SC with just a couple weeks left in their pregnancy? It reminded me a lot of when I was pregnant with my daughter and we relocated to Nebraska with just a few week left in our pregnancy. It was a stressful, but exciting time in our life and I have no doubt that time family felt the same whirlwind that we felt.

For this session we decided that neutrals, greens, and a splash of pink would be best. I am obsessed with this session and the way that it turned out. I cannot wait to see what this family does with their time in the Upstate area.

**Celebrating a Miracle: The Newborn Photography Session of Sweet Baby Journey**

Oh my sweet Journey, what a beautiful adventure it has been for her parents! When I first learned about baby Journey, I was filled with joy and anticipation, knowing that her story is one of love, hope, and dreams coming true. You see, baby Journey was nothing short of a miracle baby; her parents had tried for so long to welcome her into their lives—an incredible 10 years! Such a long wait filled with hope, longing, and perseverance. It is truly an honor for me to capture the essence of this sweet girl and the journey her family has embarked on together.

Every time a family walks into my studio, I feel a rush of excitement, but there’s something exceptionally heartwarming about sessions like Journey’s. The emotion in the air is palpable, a collective sense of gratitude and happiness that permeates the room. The celebration of this beautiful life is evident in every smile and touch, reminding me of the incredible power of love and patience that ultimately brought them their precious daughter.

As a photographer, one of the things that brings me the most joy is witnessing the sheer delight and excitement of parents meeting their newborn for the first time. Sweet Journey came into the world with an absolutely beautiful head of hair—an awe-inspiring trait that I can’t help but adore! There's something enchanting about capturing those early days when babies are still wrapped in the beautiful innocence of infancy. I couldn’t wait to see what magical moments awaited us during her session.

The planning for Baby Journey’s newborn photos, as with all our sessions, began with a simple and important step: parents sharing their color preferences. Communication is key, and I always encourage families to express their vision for the shoot! When I learned that baby’s name was Journey, the inspiration struck—there was no way we could pass up the opportunity to incorporate a travel-themed set. After all, her name itself embodies the essence of adventure, exploration, and discovery, and I knew we had to weave that theme into her photos.

Creating a travel-themed set opened up a world of creative possibilities. We envisioned soft blankets reminiscent of cloud-like skies, little props that echoed faraway places, and accents that highlighted the spirit of adventure. Each element was selected with care, ensuring it complemented Baby Journey without overshadowing her beauty. I wanted every setup to reflect the love and excitement that her parents felt, along with the unique story that brought Journey into their lives.

From the initial clicks of the camera to the gentle poses we crafted, each moment felt sacred and special. Sweet Journey, nestled amidst travel-themed props, looked like a tiny explorer ready to embark on her own remarkable adventures. It was heartwarming to witness how her parents beamed with pride, their love radiating in every shot we took. These images are not just photographs; they’re the beginning of sweet Journey’s story—a narrative that will unfold in incredible ways as she grows.

As we captured Journey’s first moments, I felt honored to memorialize a chapter that symbolizes perseverance and love. I wanted her parents to look back at these photographs and remember not just the beauty of their child but also the long and winding road they traveled to reach this joyous destination. The journey to motherhood is often filled with its share of challenges, and capturing these early days is a way for families to honor their experiences.

I’m delighted to share some previews from Baby Journey’s session below! Each image tells a story—a glimpse into her world and the beautiful love that surrounds her. She is destined for a life filled with adventures, and it fills my heart with joy to have been part of this chapter.

Thank you to Journey’s family for allowing me to capture this incredible moment in your lives. I can’t wait to see how journey unfolds before you, filled with new discoveries and cherished memories. Here’s to sweet Journey and the love that brought her here—a true celebration of family, hope, and the beauty of life!

Anticipating Joy: A Heartfelt Maternity Session

There’s nothing quite like the love shared between a husband and wife as they await the arrival of their little family member. This emotion runs deeper than words can express, and it was beautifully personified in the Cruz family as they eagerly anticipated the arrival of their daughter. In those moments of joy and excitement, you know that their child is going to be cherished beyond measure.

From the very first moment I met Victoria, the glowing mother-to-be, it was palpable—the love she had for her unborn child radiated from her. You could feel it leaping off of her, a warmth that was almost tangible, and it shone through her skin, lighting up her entire presence. Maternity absolutely suited this mama, a beautiful testament to the journey of motherhood she was embarking upon. It was an honor to capture this special time in her life, and I felt a wave of excitement when she agreed to trust me with her vision for the maternity photos.

For this session, we ventured on a small riding tour around Reidville, SC, a picturesque setting that provided the perfect canvas for capturing the beauty of motherhood. There is something magical about exploring scenic routes and finding that ideal spot where everything comes together—the lighting, the scenery, and, of course, the subject. I have always found that when clients place their trust in my vision, it allows me to create true art that speaks to the heart and soul of the moment.

The Cruz's session was nothing short of magical. We meandered through charming landscapes, stopping at moments that felt right, allowing Victoria to express herself naturally. Each click of the camera not only documented her beauty but also hinted at the unspoken bond between her and her unborn daughter. The laughter, the soft touches of her belly, and the loving glances exchanged with her husband created a narrative that was both intimate and profound, one that would last a lifetime.

However, if you’re planning your own maternity shoot, I can’t recommend Savannah, Georgia, enough as a stunning location for such a poignant experience. With its beautiful historic streets, sprawling parks, and enchanting oak trees draped in Spanish moss, Savannah offers a breathtaking backdrop for maternity photography. The city's romantic charm and picturesque settings can truly enhance the beauty of the fleeting moments of pregnancy. Whether you prefer the serene atmosphere of Forsyth Park or the elegant architecture of River Street, each corner of Savannah holds potential for capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

Back to the Cruz family, the love they shared during their maternity shoot was infectious, and I left the session feeling incredibly fulfilled. It’s always a privilege to document such significant and tender life events. As a photographer, I believe in the power of trusting your vision, allowing each moment to unfold naturally while highlighting the genuine emotions that tie families together.

Have a look at their beautiful session below! Each photograph is a testament to the love and joy awaiting their new little family member. These moments, full of anticipation and love, encapsulate what it truly means to wait for a child—a beautiful journey filled with hopes, dreams, and an overwhelming amount of love.

Oh Baby Molly! I was so excited to meet this sweet girl. From the moment I found out about her impending arrival, I felt like I had been following along through her entire pregnancy journey. It’s a unique and exhilarating experience when you have a connection to your clients beyond the typical photographer-client relationship, and in Molly’s case, that connection runs deep. You see, her dad is our family pediatrician, and we had been eagerly anticipating the opportunity to capture the beauty of their growing family.

Meeting Baby Molly for the first time was nothing short of magical. As soon as I stepped into their home, I could feel the palpable energy of love and excitement. Her parents radiated joy, and it was clear that this little love was going to do big things in her life. Moments like this remind me why I love photographing newborns; it’s about capturing the essence of their beginnings and the strong bonds within their families.

One of the special highlights of Baby Molly’s session was the use of real florals, which added beauty and vibrancy to the images. I always strive to use elements that enhance the natural beauty of the little ones I photograph, and florals do just that. Luckily, in Savannah, Georgia, we are blessed with an abundance of stunning flowers year-round. This allows me the opportunity to bring fresh, seasonal florals into my sessions, creating a unique and personalized touch that complements the warmth of family moments.

The combination of Baby Molly’s peaceful presence and the delicate blooms surrounding her created a stunning visual narrative. Each photographed moment captured her innocence and the love-enveloped atmosphere, resulting in some truly breathtaking images. **Welcome to the World, Sweet Baby Lola: A Newborn Photography Session**

I was so excited to meet this sweet, beautiful little girl! The anticipation leading up to her session was electrifying, and I could hardly wait to capture the essence of who she is. From the very first conversation I had with her mom, I just knew that Sweet Baby Lola was destined to be a little princess. As we discussed ideas for her newborn photos, a vision began to form in my mind—one that would ensure her royal spirit shone through in every frame.

Sweet Baby Lola is not only charming but also incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated and loving mother. Her mom is a teacher in the Greenville school district, and it’s clear that education and nurturing are core values in their household. I can already envision the wonderful journey ahead for Miss Lola, as her mother will instill in her not only knowledge but also the love of learning, curiosity, and compassion for others. I have no doubt that Sweet Baby Lola is going to grow up to be sweet and smart, with endless possibilities ahead of her.

For her newborn session, we decided to go with a palette of neutral tones complemented by soft spots of pink—a choice that beautifully reflects both innocence and femininity. The neutral backdrop created a serene atmosphere, allowing Lola’s gentle expressions and the playful touches of pink to take center stage. We incorporated delicate props that enhanced the whimsical feel we wanted to achieve. Each piece was carefully selected to create a cohesive look that captured the essence of this precious little one.

During the session, Lola’s personality began to shine through—each smile, sigh, and adorable yawn a testament to the vibrant spirit within her. There is something magical about photographing newborns; they have this extraordinary ability to bring warmth and joy to every moment. As I posed Sweet Baby Lola, I was captivated by the way her tiny fingers curled up and how peacefully she nestled into the soft fabrics around her. Every little detail, from the way she looked in her delicate pink headband to the gentle blush of her cheeks, made for perfect images.

As we moved through various setups, I was filled with gratitude for the opportunity to document these fleeting moments. Newborns grow and change so quickly, and I am honored to play a small role in preserving these precious memories for families. Sweet Baby Lola’s session was full of candid interactions with her mother that showcased the deep bond they share and the love that envelops them. These moments of connection are what I strive to capture, as they tell the true story of a family beginning their journey together.

Once we wrapped up the session, I couldn't help but reflect on how much joy Sweet Baby Lola will bring to her family and the world around her. With a mother who is passionate about education and nurturing her child, the future looks incredibly bright for Lola. I'm thrilled to share some previews from Sweet Baby Lola’s session below. Each image showcases her sweetness and the beauty of her early days, capturing the love that surrounds her. As her family looks back on these photographs in years to come, I hope they are reminded of this magical time—when she was a delicate little princess, cradled in their arms, full of dreams yet to unfold.

Thank you to Sweet Baby Lola and her family for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful chapter in their lives. I can't wait to witness the incredible journey that lies ahead for this sweet girl and continue to celebrate moments like these through the art of photography. Let the adventure begin!

Baby Eli- Savannah Newborn Photographer
Greenville SC Photographer Newborn

I was so excited to see this handsome fellow walk through my door. As many of you know, I generally schedule newborns out by months and I recommend booking within the second trimester. We ask that parents do that just to help us ensure that we have availability once your baby is born. Every now and then we are able to take a baby that hasn’t been booked with us and it was definitely fate that we were able to get sweet baby Eli in for his newborn session. His mom made a post in a local facebook group for Greenville, South Carolina mom that I am a part of. She selected me and I felt so blessed.

Sweet Baby Eli come to his newborn photos with his mom and sister. It was so amazing to see the way that sweet loved her little brother. She was so kind and gentle with him throughout the session and best of all she was just has picture perfect as baby brother. This session was taken a few months back and I have been able to see this sweet family a few times now and it is such a blessing to see how their sibling relationship has just continued to blossom.

During the planning of this session, mom told me that she just wanted to keep it simple and all about baby, which is the value that we stand on. Of course, we were happy to follow those direction. We decided, after a little light stalking of mom, that the light blue tone would be perfect for baby as we saw that he had a head of great hair. We followed up with complimenting light tones to ensure the session stayed all about baby.
