Emily Moncus - About Me

I'm Emily, the owner and photographer for Emily Moncus Photography. I was born and raised in Southern Georgia. I started my photography journey in Omaha, Nebraska and continued it in Dallas, Texas. I know what your thinking, “Wow, you get around”, and you’d be right! My husband was military for 8 years, but I was a banker during that portion of our lives. We found out we were expecting and knew that we wanted to both be as present as possible. Since we departed the military we’ve been slowly trying to find our way back to the East Coast and finally, we found our way back to the East Coast calling South Carolina our home for 4 years, and now we have settled in Savannah, Georgia.

Now I am sure you are wondering.. how did I do from banking to photography?

Well, when I was blessed with my daughter in 2014, I was told children do not keep. I vowed to make it my personal mission to use my camera to document as many moments as I could. Little did I know, I would be finding my passion. Capturing those little fingers and toes even those moments when fingers are in the nose. I am a studio and natural light photographer specializing in maternity, newborn, and toddler photography.

Since I started my journey, I have found myself in numerous workshops specifically for newborns and maternity mamas as that’s where my passion is. It is so important to make sure that you are up to date on safety and keeping those skills as fresh as possible. One thing that I have learned though is that all babies are different.

So far, my adventure has been amazing. I hope you will join me on my journey and we can capture life's amazing moments together.

Things I love…

  • Coffee!!! I love coffee! Black coffee, flavored coffee, iced coffee, coffee in a dessert! …Honestly, I should probably stay away from coffee, but it brings me joy!

  • Gillmore Girls, The Office, and Friends!! I could binge watch all of them on repeat! (My husband refuses to let me) If I am editing late at night, I can guarantee that one of those shows are on.

  • My family!! I am addicted to my family. My husband is my best friend and my kids are my joy! I never imagined that I would have children or that I would’ve married the guy that I had a crush on in high school! I am so thankful!!!

  • Chocolate!! I love chocolate! Specifically dark chocolate! When we lived in Switzerland, I probably spent 40% of the time site seeing and 60% of the time eating chocolate from a chocolate shop near my home!
